If you ever visit Melanasia and Australia one cannot help but be amazed by the striking blond hair of some of its inhabitants, since these Pacific islands are populated by some of the darkest skinned people in the world. The Aboriginal people of Australia and the South Pacific islands, such as the Solomon Islands,Vanuatu, and Fiji at birth are born with blond hair. In maturity the hair usually turns a darker brown color, but sometimes remains blond. Now, a study of people from the Solomon Islands shows that they evolved the striking blonde trait independently of people in Europe. These Aborigines are the oldest continuous population outside of Africa. The modern Aborigines are the direct descendants of the first explorers to leave Africa and arrive in the South Pacific 50,000 to 70,000 years ago. Scientist believe this genetic mutation appeared in Europe only about 11,000 years ago during the last ice age. THE ORIGINAL BLONDS…….

Black Sitcoms Will Never Be the Same. I ran through Jet Magazine’s Archives and saw that almost every other issue in the 90’s had a black sitcom family on the cover. If only we could get shows like these back. Here were my favorites growing up..
Never again will black sitcoms pale in comparison to these =/
What kills me is that all of these shows were successful. Multi-year runs with plenty of ad revenue, so you can’t claim audiences won’t watch shows featuring black people. But somehow none of these successful shows, or miniseries like Women of Brewster Place, or high grossing movies with black leads matter in Hollywood. The excuse is always that they’re a niche product/a fluke/whatever other dumbass excuse they can dream up to avoid engaging with reality.
RIP the Black sitcom.

Always reblog this. A lot of the animals they kill (and they kill over 95% of the animals they take in at their Virginia Headquarters) are killed within 24 hours. Not nearly enough time to deem whether an animal is adoptable or not. They even bought a giant fridge to store the corpses!
PETA is a corporation. Not a charity. Less than 1% of their 32 Million+ annual budget actually goes to directly helping animals. Most of it is spent making sexist/racist/ domestic abuse supporting commercials that won’t even air on television, giving bail outs to convicted arsonists and criminals, hiring/supporting any celebrity that claims to be vegetarian for five minutes, creating campaigns to target children (“Your mom kills animals”), fruitless lawsuits like suing Sea World for violating the constitution, and most recently, making porn. I’m not against porn, but I fail to see how it fucking helps animals.
PETA does not give a shit about animals.
Plus, these assholes have the gall to insult Steve Irwin.
